The Government has introduced a digital platform to be used by its officials to track and monitor all government projects implemented under the bottom-up economic transformation agenda (Beta) across the country.

Ministry of Interior and National Administration yesterday embarked on a distribution exercise of tablets that are programmed to monitor and evaluate specific government projects in each county to the more than 15,000 National Government Administration Officers.

Internal Security Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo (pictured) said key government priority projects that will be tracked using the platform include houses built under the Affordable Housing Scheme, farmers registered for the distribution of subsidised fertilizer in support of the Ministry of Agriculture, trees grown under the 15 billion tree campaign spearheaded by the Ministry of Environment and the beneficiaries registered for the Inua Jamii Cash Safety-net Programme.

He emphasised that special emphasis will be accorded to the government’s initiatives that target the reduction of the cost of living, creation of jobs for Kenyans, equitable distribution of income and enhancement of social security meant for the most vulnerable citizens.
Priority programmes

“The Ministry is introducing Project Beta which is a digital reporting and monitoring tool that tracks and evaluates the implementation, progress and performance of national government development projects, priority programmes, presidential directives and crime statistics in the country through the NGAO system. This includes agricultural transformation, small, micro and medium enterprises, affordable housing, universal health coverage and digital economy,” PS Omollo remarked.

Additionally, Omollo said that the tablets will be used to track and monitor government projects with each gadget bearing region and county specifics where all government projects will from now on be uploaded and tracked in real-time with the information keyed in and signed using the tool by regional and county commissioners.

The PS noted that the government administration officers are at the centre of the socio-economic development of the country and the NGAO structure is crucial in providing a framework for effective oversight in the monitoring and evaluation of all government policies that are being implemented.
