Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration Kipchumba Murkomen has hailed the Kenya security mission to Haiti, saying it has yielded results.

Murkomen saw off a contingent of other officers to the Caribbean country on Friday, January 17, 2025, and added that the mission in Haiti has also been praised globally for what it has achieved. 

“The 217 officers will reinforce the first batch of 400 deployed last year to the Caribbean nation to restore peace.

“The Kenya-led mission has made tremendous progress in reducing gang violence, earning praise across the globe, including from both the outgoing and incoming US administrations.

“Our commitment to this historic mission is unwavering, and we will continue to mobilise all the necessary international support for it to succeed,” Murkomen said in a statement on X on Saturday, January 18, 2025.

PS Omollo’s message

Interior and National Administration Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo was part of the leaders that saw off the officers.

According to the CS, Kenya’s leadership in international cooperation has been emphasised by the achievement of the police officers in Haiti.

“Accompanied CS Murkomen to see off the third contingent of the Kenya Police officers as they embarked on their peacekeeping mission to Haiti under the United Nations.

“This dedicated team joins the first two contingents already on the ground, emphasizing Kenya’s leadership in international cooperation and our unwavering support for restoring stability in regions facing critical challenges.

“As these brave officers carry our flag to Haiti, we honour their service and pray for their safety and success in fostering peace and hope in the communities they will serve,” Omollo said.
