Speaker Wetang’ula leads tributes to Isiolo South MP after his death
By Mabonga Makhanu, November 12, 2025National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has officially informed members and the nation of the passing of Isiolo South MP Tubi Bidu Mohamed.
In a statement released on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, Wetang’ula acknowledged the late MP’s long service and the contributions he made to both Parliament and his constituents.
The Speaker revealed that Tubi Bidu passed away on Wednesday evening, November 12, 2025, at Nairobi Hospital after a prolonged illness.
He served his first term in Parliament and was an active member of the Departmental Committee on Environment, Forestry and Mining as well as the Public Petitions Committee.

“It is with profound deep sorrow that I inform you and the nation of the demise of our esteemed colleague, the Member for Isiolo South Constituency, the Hon. Tubi Bidu Mohamed, MP, who has left us this evening, Wednesday, 12th November 2025, while receiving treatment at the Nairobi Hospital,” Wetangula said
Before joining the National Assembly, Hon. Tubi Bidu was the inaugural Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly, a role he held until 2017, earning recognition for his dedication and leadership.
Wetang’ula urged members to honour the late MP’s legacy, highlighting the positive impact he had on the nation and encouraging thoughts and prayers for his family, friends, and constituents.
“As we come to terms with this great loss, let us remember Hon. Tubi for his remarkable service and the positive impact he had on our nation. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, constituents and all those who had the privilege of knowing him,” he added.

Past deaths
This marks the second MP to pass away in the National Assembly this year, following Malava MP Malulu Njendi, who also died while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital. Both constituencies are set to hold by-elections on November 27, 2025.

In the Senate, Baringo Senator William Cheptumo also passed away recently, with his seat scheduled to be filled in the same November 27 by-election.
Several other former MPs have also passed away in recent times, including former Kimilili MP Suleiman Murunga and Samburu North MP Mathew Lempurkel, who died in a road accident.
