The fate of Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and his Ugenya counterpart David Ochieng to continue serving as members of the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) and Health committees, respectively is now in the hands of National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi.

Muturi yesterday told MPs he will be issuing a communication whether Orange Democratic Movement party and the National Super Alliance (Nasa) can effect the changes to have the duo de-whipped from their positions in Parliament.

The communication by Muturi came after MPs demanded to know the way forward regarding the fate of the two after 118 members out of 135 under Nasa coalition resolved to have the members removed from their positions allegedly because of their apparent support for Deputy President William Ruto ambitions.

“ I will issue a ruling in due time,” said Muturi.

In the PSC, Nasa has Jumwa (ODM), Vihiga Senator George Khaniri (ANC) and Borabu MP Benson Momanyi (Wiper).

Debate on the matter started after Ochieng sought the Speaker’s ruling as to whether it was legal for the minority side to de-whip him from the Health committee yet his party Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) is not a member of Nasa while Jumwa’s case emerged after Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo said they had has lost confidence in her.

Ochieng said it was wrong for the party to remove him from the Health committee yet his party has no coalition agreement with Nasa.
