Narok East MP Lemanken Aramat (pictured) has cautioned his constituents against marrying off their daughters who sat the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams this year and instead allow them to proceed to high school.

Speaking when he joined parents, teachers and top KCPE top performers at Nkoirienito Boarding and Day Primary School in his constituency on Friday, Aramat said the girls who performed well in the exams are expected to transit to high school by January next year and parents should give them a chance to do so.
Family trend

“Maasai community members have a trend of families sending off girls for early marriage, to be used as a source of wealth generation through dowry, promised land, livestock or financial assistances but end up being housewives living in squalid conditions, it’s time you should know girls are equal to the task in education and will always come back to help their families,” said Aramat.
