Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) train from Mombasa to Nairobi on Thursday November 18 stalled midway after development a mechanical problem.

Confirming the incident, Kenya Railways (KR) said it had dispatched a locomotive to rescue passengers.

“We have dispatched a rescue Locomotive to enable the passengers complete the journey. The expected arrival time is 4:20 pm,” the KR said on Twitter.

The incident delayed express train from Mombasa to the capital by two hours.

“The 3:00 pm express train to Mombasa will now depart at 5:00 pm. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused,” the train operator added.
