An administrator yesterday testified in the Sh48.9 million graft case against former Kasarani MP Elizabeth Ongoro, her husband Ferdinand Kenga and 16 others
Paul arap Chandoek, a senior chief of Ruaraka Location, told Senior Principal Magistrate Peter Ooko that he was shocked to learn that over Sh4.3 million had been paid to a company known as Souce Enterprise Ltd for the construction of the chief’s office, as no such event took place.
He was testifying in a case in which the former MP, Kenga and 16 others are facing criminal charges related to the embezzlement of Sh48.9 million from the Kasarani Constituency Development Fund when Ongoro (pictured) served as MP.
The money was meant for a project at Kasarani Girls High School.
“Your Honour, when I reported for work at Ruaraka, there was no office at all and we used to operate from one of the eight rooms made from the iron sheet structures allocated to the administration police,” the Chief said.
The Chief told the court that he held a series of meetings with residents, churches and other leaders in 2012/13, all who agreed to donate some materials to build the Chief’s office.
