Senate Speaker Kingi highlights growing Kenya-Belarus relations after Minsk visit
Senate Speaker Amason Jeffa Kingi has said Kenya’s ties with Belarus are expanding the country’s diplomatic reach and strengthening its position on the global stage.
In a statement shared on X on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, after an official visit to Minsk, Kingi said the relationship between the two nations has been anchored on mutual economic and strategic benefit, and continues to open new avenues for cooperation.
He said the two countries have built warm and cordial ties over the years, especially in areas such as trade, technical collaboration and parliamentary engagement.

“Kenya and the Republic of Belarus enjoy warm and cordial ties that have anchored trade and other critical bilateral engagements which are of mutual benefit to citizens of our two countries,” he said.
Kingi added that the Kenyan Parliament fully supports ongoing cooperation, noting that such partnerships are essential for strengthening Kenya’s profile in international affairs.
“The Parliament of Kenya fully supports these engagements as they are not only of great economic benefit for us but also provide avenues for the pursuit of strategic national interests that buttress our profile and influence in the global geopolitical arena,” he stated.

During his visit, Kingi and his delegation were received by Belarusian officials and attended a wreath-laying ceremony at the iconic Victory Monument in Minsk. The monument, erected in 1954, honours soldiers of the Soviet Army and Belarusian partisans who died during the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945.
Kingi said the experience was both solemn and significant, reflecting Belarus’s long history and the values that continue to shape cooperation between the two countries.
“I was honoured by the warm welcome I have been accorded together with the delegation in my official visit to Belarus and the opportunity to lay a wreath at the historic Victory Monument,” he said.

Kingi added that such engagements deepen mutual understanding between nations and create opportunities for Kenya to tap into new partnerships as part of its wider diplomatic strategy.
As diplomatic exchanges continue, Kingi reaffirmed that Kenya remains committed to building relationships that advance its national interests while creating opportunities for its citizens.
