Sam Atandi: Ruto-Raila alliance will extend beyond 2027
Alego Usonga MP Sam Atandi has come out to state that the relationship between President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga will extend beyond 2027.
While speaking during an event in his constituency on Saturday, August 30, 2025, he said that they are true members of the broad-based government and fully support President William Ruto and Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
He emphasised that the alliance between Raila and Ruto is going to last beyond 2027, with the aim of ensuring the country achieves conclusive development and national inclusivity.
“We are true members of a broad-based government. We are behind President William Ruto and Prime Minister Raila Odinga. We want to confirm that this alliance between Raila and Ruto is going to last; it’s going to serve its length, and its length is beyond 2027. We are going to work together to ensure that the county attains conclusive development and national,” Atandi stated.
Atandi, who is now Budget Committee Chair, added that inclusivity is non-negotiable, noting that they will not allow a situation where development projects are shared on the basis of votes or political shares. According to him, every Kenyan taxpayer deserves development equally, since all Kenyans pay taxes.
“Inclusivity is not something we can negotiate; we will not allow a country where development projects are shared on the basis of shares and votes to want every Kenyan taxpayer to receive development like any other person because development is about taxation, and every Kenyan pays tax,” he added.
Ruto’s bromance with Raila
This statement comes at a time when the president has embraced the Nyanza region following his fallout with former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, as the Mount Kenya region increasingly turns hostile towards him.

In recent months, the former prime minister has been very close to the president, with the two attending several events together. They were present during the joint ODM and UDA parliamentary group meeting held in Karen, the visit of His Highness the Aga Khan V to Kenya, and the Katiba Day celebrations at KICC on Wednesday, August 27.
They were all together, including at the Harambee Stars matches at the CHAN 2025, even jointly rewarding the players.
