Ruto mourns veteran diplomat Ambassador Aaron Suge

President William Ruto has sent condolences to the family and friends of veteran Kenyan diplomat Ambassador Aaron Suge following his death.

In a statement shared on his official X account dated March 28 2026, the President described the late envoy as a dedicated public servant whose diplomatic career was defined by commitment and integrity.

“Our condolences to the family and friends of Ambassador Aaron Suge following his passing on. Amb. Suge will be remembered for a distinguished diplomatic career defined by dedication and integrity, particularly during his service as our Ambassador to Sudan. May his family find strength and comfort at this painful time. Rest In Peace,” President Ruto said.

Career in foreign service

Ambassador Suge served in Kenya’s Foreign Service for several decades, holding diplomatic positions in the course of his career.

During his tenure as Kenya’s ambassador to Sudan, he represented the country in diplomatic engagements and worked to strengthen relations between the two nations.

His service also involved supporting Kenyan interests abroad and assisting citizens during challenging situations.

Leaders and colleagues in the diplomatic community described him as a committed public servant who contributed to Kenya’s international engagements over the years.

Tributes from leaders

Leaders from Uasin Gishu County, where the late diplomat hailed from, also paid tribute following news of his passing.

Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim described him as a distinguished diplomat and an exemplary public servant.

“This afternoon I extended my deepest condolences to his family and friends at Cheplelachbei Farm, Kipsomba Ward. May his legacy shine brightly and continue to inspire generations,” the governor said in a Facebook post.

Soy Member of Parliament David Kiplagat also mourned the diplomat, describing him as a servant who represented the country with dedication.

“His passing is not only a loss to his family in Kipsomba, but to the entire nation and the diplomatic community. Kenya has lost a patriot whose legacy will continue to inspire generations. As we come to terms with this loss, we stand together in solidarity with his family and loved ones. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” he said.

Legacy of public service

Ambassador Suge hailed from Cheplelachbei in Kipsomba Ward, Uasin Gishu County.

Leaders and members of the community described him as a public servant whose work in diplomacy contributed to advancing Kenya’s interests abroad.

His colleagues also remembered his mentorship of younger diplomats and his contribution to the country’s foreign relations. Tributes continued to pour in from leaders and members of the diplomatic community following confirmation of his death.
