Kenya to deploy specialized officers for peace mission in South Sudan

The National Police Service (NPS) has announced plans to deploy specialized officers to South Sudan for a peace keeping mission.
Confirming the latest, the NPS noted that the Inspector General of the National Police Service Douglas Kanja who was represented by his Principal Assistant Mathew Kutoh, briefed four specialist officers deploying to the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).

“Today, 27 March 2025, the Inspector General of the National Police Service Mr. Douglas Kanja, represented by his Principal Assistant Mr. Mathew Kutoh, SAIG briefed four specialist officers deploying to the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) as part of the Specialised Police Team (Anti-Cattle Raiding Component),” NPS said.
Speaking at the meeting, Kutoh implored officers to uphold the highest standards of discipline, integrity, and professionalism, emphasizing their role as Kenya’s ambassadors.
He equally encouraged the officers to maintain discipline, foster teamwork and strictly adhere to the UN regulations for the mission to be successful.
The officers deployed are drawn from the Kenya Police Service (KPS), Administration Police Service (APS), and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

“The officers will serve under the command of Mr. Kioko Munyambu, SSP for a 12-month period. Their mission is to undertake specialised duties in support of peacekeeping efforts, aligning with international policing standards.
“These officers will join others deployed in the mission area, reinforcing Kenya’s contribution to regional security and stability,” NPS added.
