Govt Coastal projects

Amid Kwale County projects, Ruto also vowed to resolve long-standing land ownership challenges in the Coast region by issuing 33,000 title deeds to residents during a public event held at Mama Ngina Drive in Mombasa County.

Taking to his X account on Thursday, May 21, 2026, Ruto announced that an additional 200,000 title deeds are currently being processed across various parts of the Coast region and will be delivered within the next 90 days.

“At Mama Ngina Drive in Mombasa County, we issued more than 33,000 title deeds to Coast residents. We are now processing an additional 200,000 title deeds in different parts of the Coast, which will be delivered within the next 90 days, benefiting more than one million residents,” Ruto stated.

Land regularisation programme

He said the ongoing land regularisation programme is aimed at correcting historical injustices and giving residents legal ownership of land they have occupied for years.

“Our goal is to ensure that residents are no longer squatters, but legitimate landowners with a place they can proudly call home. We are ending years of suffering and freeing them from the mercy of absentee landlords. The Coast land question now has an answer,” Ruto said.

The issuance process will commence in the counties of Tana River, Kwale, Kilifi, Malindi, and Taita Taveta after the sub-division process is completed by the Ministry of Lands, and promising that moving forward, the problem of landlessness will be a thing of the past under his administration.

“These one million people will now have a place to call home. They will stop being squatters, they will stop being strangers, and they will have a home and land for their children and for future generations,” Ruto noted.
