The passing on

Parliamentary Service Commission commissioner Johnstone Muthama and his ex-wife, Machakos Senator Agnes Kavindu, made the announcement of the passing on of their only son, Moses Muthama.

According to the family, Moses passed away on Wednesday, noting that the family was devastated by the untimely loss of a young life full of promise.

The former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama confirmed the death of his son.

Taking to his official X account on Thursday, February 5, 2026, Muthama confirmed that his son passed away a day earlier, describing the loss as heartbreaking and difficult for the family to comprehend.

“It is with deep sorrow that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our beloved son, Moses Muthama Nduya,” Muthama said.

Muthama described Moses as a joyful and diligent young man whose life was cut short far too soon, leaving the family devastated

“Moses was a joyful and diligent young man, and it is painful that his life was taken so soon.”

The former Machakos senator said the family had entrusted their son to God, even as they struggled to come to terms with the loss.

“Though our hearts are heavy, we entrust him to God’s loving care. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” he said.

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has also mourned Moses.

In 2024, she appointed him as Director in the county government in charge of administration.

“I wish to convey my heartfelt condolences to Machakos Senator Hon. Agnes Kavindu and her family following the untimely passing of her beloved son, Moses Muthama. The people of Machakos County stand with you in this time of profound sorrow and pray that Almighty God grants you comfort, peace, and strength to endure this immense loss. May the Lord grant Moses eternal rest and give the family the courage to bear this great loss. Our prayers are with you,” Governor Ndeti said in a statement.
