Ruto allied MP files defence in Sh1.5b land dispute
Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua now claims a Sh1.5 billion property near Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), being contested by a former director of Physical Planning, belongs to him.
Gachagua, through lawyer Philip Nyachoti, claims he bought the property in 2012 at Sh24 million.
He says the National Lands Commission investigated the dispute and found the land belonged to him .
“The decision by the commission is still in full force and therefore binding, in the circumstances the matter cannot be ventilated afresh before this court while the said decision by commission subsists,” he said in court documents.
The MP says the land was allotted to Karandi Farm Ltd, owned by Peter Nduati and Pauline Muringe and who paid Sh54,000.
The couple later approached the MP’s firm, Wamunyoro Investment Ltd, where they sold it to him at Sh24 million in June 2012. Case will be heard on June 7.
