Robert Alai: I have been denied access to visit Senator Osotsi in hospital
Kileleshwa Member of the County Assembly, Robert Alai, has accused Linda Mwananchi’s team of blocking him from visiting Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi in the hospital.
Taking to his official X account on Friday, April 10, 2026, the MCA accused the team of taking advantage of the unfortunate incident to further their political careers.
“I wanted to go visit my friend Senator Osotsi in the hospital. The Lind Mwananchi gang refused me access. Why are these people using the unfortunate incident to further their political careers?” Alai stated in a social media post.

Osotsi’s recovery
His visit comes as Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi is nursing injuries at a hospital in Nairobi following an assault by a group of armed goons in Kisumu County on Wednesday, April 8.
According to Derick Luvega, Director of Communication at the Vihiga Senate Office, Osotsi had made a routine visit to the Acacia area to get a haircut before proceeding to a restaurant, where he met a friend and also interacted with members of the public.
Shortly after, a group of gun-wielding individuals is said to have confronted him, questioning him over his political allegiance.
Luvega indicated that Osotsi’s security detail exercised restraint to avoid discharging firearms in public and hurting innocent lives in the process.
“We strongly condemn this barbaric and cowardly act, which appears to have been premeditated and orchestrated,” the statement read in part.
“It is important to emphasise that this isolated incident should not, in any way, be used to tarnish the image of the people of Kisumu, who have consistently demonstrated warmth and hospitality, as evidenced by the Senator’s free movement and interactions prior to the attack.”

Osotsi speaks up
Meanwhile, the Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has spoken for the first time after the attack at a hotel in Kisumu that left him with multiple injuries.
Speaking on Friday, April 10, 2026, from his hospital bed, Osotsi recounted the events leading up to the incident. He said he had just left a barbershop, where he spent about 40 minutes, before heading to the hotel.
Shortly after arriving, a group of about 20 youths entered the premises, shouting his name. He said they initially appeared friendly but quickly turned violent, questioning why he was not supporting the president and why he was chanting “Wantam”.
Osotsi said the group descended on him with kicks and blows, leaving him unable to move as he tried to crawl away.
