Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has joined the people of Kipipiri and the country at large in mourning the death of John Muhia Njoroge, the father of Kipipiri Member of Parliament Wanjiku Muhia.

In a heartfelt message shared on X on Friday, January 2, 2025, Gachagua reflected on the loss as both a personal and community tragedy, describing Njoroge as a devoted family man whose life and values helped shape leadership beyond his own home.

“I am deeply saddened by the passing on of John Muhia Njoroge, loving dad to the Kipipiri Member of Parliament Wanjiku Muhia,” Gachagua wrote

Years of illness

Gachagua’s message went beyond a simple condolence, drawing attention to the long and difficult journey Njoroge endured before his death. He highlighted the strength it took to live through years of illness, noting that such endurance often goes unseen but leaves a lasting mark on those around it. His words painted the picture of a man who quietly fought a long battle while remaining grounded in family and community.

“The late Njoroge Muhia demonstrated courage and great resilience in life, having had a twelve-year battle with kidney failure,” he wrote

In his tribute, Gachagua also placed Njoroge’s life in the wider context of Kipipiri, describing the loss as one felt by an entire constituency. He linked the values of discipline, service, and responsibility to the leadership shown by Njoroge’s children, suggesting that his influence lived on through them and their public service.

“The people of Kipipiri have lost a champion and a family man who brought forth a great leader, Wanjiku Muhia, and her siblings have demonstrated,” Gachagua wrote

As condolences continued, Gachagua extended his sympathy not just as a public figure, but as a family man himself. He acknowledged the weight of grief that comes with losing a parent and emphasised shared mourning between his household and the bereaved family.

“My family and I send our deepest sympathies to the family of Njoroge Muhia and the people of Kipipiri on this painful loss,” Gachagua wrote

Turning to faith, Gachagua offered prayers for strength and peace, recognising that words often fall short in moments of deep sorrow. He leaned on spiritual comfort, urging the family to find courage as they navigate the days ahead.

“I pray for peace and strength during this difficult moment. May you find comfort and courage in the Lord God to bear this grief,” Gachagua wrote

He concluded by committing the departed to eternal rest, closing his message with a prayer that reflected both respect and finality.

“May the Almighty God rest the Soul of Njoroge Muhia in eternal peace and perpetual light shine upon him forever,” he wrote
