By , December 30, 2025

Kenya is set to experience a mix of rainy spells, sunny conditions, hot days, and chilly nights in the week spanning Tuesday, December 30, 2025, to Monday, January 5, 2026, according to the latest national weather outlook.

In their weekly weather forecast report released on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, the Kenya Meteorological Department predicted that at the beginning of the week, rainfall is expected to persist in several parts of the country, particularly in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley itself, the Lake Victoria Basin, parts of North-western and North-eastern Kenya, the Coastal region, and the South-eastern lowlands. Residents in these areas should be prepared for isolated thunderstorms and occasional heavy rainfall, which may disrupt travel, outdoor activities, and holiday plans.

However, as the week progresses, weather conditions are forecast to gradually shift to predominantly sunny and dry conditions across much of the country. This transition is expected to bring some relief, especially in regions that have experienced sustained rainfall in recent weeks.

Hot conditions

Meanwhile, hot daytime conditions are anticipated in several regions. Maximum temperatures exceeding 30°C are forecast in the Coastal region, North-eastern and North-western Kenya, as well as parts of the South-eastern lowlands, the Rift Valley, and Western Kenya. Residents in these areas are advised to stay hydrated and take precautions against heat-related discomfort.

”Hot Conditions: Daytime (maximum) temperatures above 30°C are expected in the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya, as well as parts of the South-eastern lowlands, the Rift Valley, and Western Kenya,” Kenya Met weather forecast report read in part.

In contrast, cool nights are expected in high-altitude areas, with minimum temperatures dropping below 10°C in parts of the Central Highlands, North and Central Rift Valley, Western Kenya, and areas around Mt. Kilimanjaro. Cold-weather precautions will be necessary, especially during the early morning hours.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has urged the public to remain alert and regularly check official weather updates to plan activities safely and reduce weather-related risks. Timely information, they note, is key to staying prepared as the country transitions from the end of the year into the new one.
