Tugen elders and a section of Baringo Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) are pushing  to have the late Deputy Governor Charles Kipng’ok’s eldest son, Felix Maiyo, replace him.

Ward Reps, led by Lembus Kwen MCA Lawi Kipchumba, yesterday called on Governor Benjamin Cheboi to listen to the elders and people of Baringo and honour Kipng’ok by picking his deputy from the family.

Kipchumba said Maiyo has all it takes to fit into the shoes of his father.

“Maiyo has shown all the qualities of a good leader and I am sure he is capable of taking after his father if he is mentored well,” Kipchumba stated.

He regretted that Kipng’ok was determined to work for the people of Baringo unfortunately, he became the shortest serving Deputy Governor in the county.

“Kipng’ok did not earn a single cent of his salary and the honourable thing we can do as a county is to replace him with a member of his family,” Kipchumba held.

Ravine Ward MCA Julius Ngotie said he is going to lobby with other leaders to ensure Cheboi picks his deputy from Kipng’ok’s family.

“As the elders have said that Maiyo should replace his father, we are going to make sure we push for this to happen. This conversation is not going to end here,” he assured the family when they toured the home.
