PSC announces job vacancies for National Police Service Commission chairperson and members

The selection panel for nominees for appointment as chairperson and members of the National Police Service has invited applications to fill these vacancies.
In an announcement by the selection panel’s chairperson Arthur Osiya through the Public Service Commission (PSC) on Thursday, February 20, 2025, the commission will interview applicants for the positions of chairperson and members before successful candidates are forwarded to the National Assembly for approval.
“Pursuant to the provision of Article 246(2)(4) of the Constitution and Section 5 of the National Police Service Commission Act 2011, the Selection Panel invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the positions of the Chairperson and Member of the National Police Service Commission,” the announcement reads in part.
Application requirements
For the position of chairperson of the National Police Service Commission which is currently held by Eliud Kinuthia whose term ends this year, applicants must have a degree from a recognized institution, not be a previous member of the police commission and satisfy the requirements of Chapter 6 of the constitution.
Also, two of the members of the National Police Service Commission will be required to be retired senior police officers in either the National Police Service or the Administration Police Service.

Equally, the selection panel indicates that these members must hold a degree from a recognized university in the country and must have held the position of senior superintendent of police and above and meet the demands of chapter six of the constitution.
Members of the commission
Two other members of the commission will be required to be degree holders and have at least 10 years of experience in the fields of finance and administration, economics, HR management, Public Administration, Labour laws, Law, Human rights, Ethics and governance, mediation and consensus building and change management.
The panel notified potential applicants that disqualification will arise from being bankrupt, a previous convict, being a serving state officer and being a member of a political party.
The selection panel equally observed that shortlisted candidates for each of the advertised positions will be published in print media.
They also stated that the shortlisted candidates will be required to present original ID cards, academic and professional certificates and transcripts, clearance certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority, Higher Education Loans Board, EACC, registered credit reference bureaus and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The term for Lilian Kiamba, Eusebius Laibuta, Naftali Rono, Alice Otwala and Ole Moyaki has come to an end after serving for six years alongside the commission’s chairperson Eliud Kinuthia.
