Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has announced a new partnership between the Ministry of Interior and the Kenya Scouts Association to boost youth participation in national development, peacebuilding, and environmental protection.

Omollo said in a statement posted on his X account on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, the collaboration will tap into the Scouts’ countrywide volunteer network to support key government programmes such as tree planting, anti-drug campaigns, and youth empowerment.

“Our discussions focused on harnessing the Scouts’ extensive national presence and volunteer network to complement key government programmes, particularly in climate action and tree-growing, peacebuilding and community cohesion, anti-drug and substance abuse campaigns and youth empowerment initiatives,” he said

The PS met with the leadership of the Kenya Scouts Association, led by Chief Commissioner Victor Radido and CEO Moses Danda, where they discussed how to align the movement’s long-standing community work with government priorities.

Empowering Youth Through National Service

Omollo said the Scouts movement provides one of the most effective platforms for engaging the youth in positive community activities. He noted that Scouts have a unique reach at the grassroots level, which makes them vital in driving civic responsibility, leadership, and environmental awareness.

He emphasised that the partnership will help promote discipline, patriotism, and environmental care among young people, while also strengthening their role in local peace initiatives.

The PS said this aligns with the government’s ongoing youth-focused programmes that seek to build character and promote active citizenship.

Omollo Honoured as Scouting Ambassador

During the meeting, Raymond Omollo was inducted into the Kenya Scouts Association and conferred the title of Scouting Ambassador, in recognition of his dedication to youth development and national service.

“In a special gesture of honour, I was inducted into the Kenya Scouts Association and conferred the title of Scouting Ambassador, a recognition of my dedication to advancing youth development, civic responsibility and national service,” he said.

He commended the Scouts for their continued contribution to community development, especially through their initiatives on tree planting, climate action, and mentorship of young people.

Omollo said the government will continue to support the Scouts movement and other youth-led organisations that are committed to building a more peaceful, responsible, and environmentally conscious generation.
