Police seize 4kg of cannabis, arrest persons of interest in Homa Bay raid

A major crackdown on narcotics in Homa Bay County has led to the arrest of a suspect and the recovery of a large haul of cannabis along the busy Kendu Bay–Homa Bay road. The operation, carried out by officers from Kendu Bay Police Station, targeted an area long associated with the movement of illicit alcohol and drugs.

In the statement shared by the service on X on Thursday, November 20, 2025, the police said the operation took place on November 19, 2025, during a focused sweep on drug trafficking routes. The officers intercepted a white Toyota Corolla linked to suspicious movement. The statement read.

“Police officers from Kendu Bay Police Station yesterday, on November 19, 2025, conducted an intelligence-led operation targeting illicit alcohol and drugs along the Kendu Bay–Homa Bay road, specifically in the Kanyadhiang area of North Karachuonyo,” the statement reads

The National Police Service said the officers were conducting an intelligence-guided patrol when they moved in on a vehicle believed to be transporting narcotics. The operation focused on the Kanyadhiang area in North Karachuonyo, a location that residents say has seen increased police activity in recent months as the fight against illegal trade intensifies.

The officers then carried out a full search of the vehicle to establish what it was transporting. The statement continued. “During the operation, the officers intercepted a white Toyota Corolla,” the statement reads

Inside the car, officers found narcotics hidden in sacks. “A thorough search of the vehicle revealed it was transporting 1,825 rolls, 113 brooms, and approximately 4 kg of unpacked cannabis, all concealed in four sacks,” the statement reads

The persons of interest found inside the vehicle were taken into custody as police prepared further action.“The suspect was escorted to the police station to await processing and arraignment in court, while the vehicle and the evidence were secured at the same facility,” the statement reads.

The National Police Service noted that this operation is part of its wider work to protect communities from harmful substances and criminal networks. “The National Police Service remains committed to intensifying its efforts against illicit alcohol, narcotics, and all forms of criminal activity that threaten the safety and security of the public,” the statement reads
