Police seize 380 litres of illicit alcohol in Meru operation
A coordinated operation involving officers from Kianjai Police Post, the area chief, and other National Government Administration Officers has led to a significant seizure of illegal alcohol in Kianjai, the National Police Service has confirmed.
The joint operation, carried out on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, targeted illegal brews being sold and distributed in the region. During the raid, one person was arrested after being found in possession of 380 litres of an illicit alcoholic substance locally known as “Muna” during the particular crackdown. The particular person is currently in police custody and is set to face charges in court once processing is complete.

The National Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to the ongoing fight against the manufacture and sale of unregulated alcoholic drinks, warning that such products pose serious risks to public health and safety.
Elsewhere, the National Police Service also confirmed that officers from Luanda Police Station in Vihiga County on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, seized 40 kilograms of suspected cannabis in a targeted operation conducted on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in Emabungo Location.

The operation was triggered by a tip-off from members of the public who reported suspicious cartons left behind by an unidentified motorcycle rider. Acting swiftly, officers rushed to the scene and, upon inspection, uncovered 16 bales of what is believed to be Cannabis sativa.
The seized narcotics have been secured as exhibits as police launch investigations to trace and identify the rider involved in the illegal transportation. These developments happen at a moment when security agencies and other involved parties have vowed to fight drug trafficking in the country.
The National Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to the fight against drug trafficking and the distribution of illicit substances. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
The police have praised members of the public for their cooperation and emphasised that community collaboration remains a key tool in the ongoing battle against drug-related crimes.
