Police nab man linked to 12 bales of bhang in Kisumu
Police officers from Obunga Police Station in Kisumu Central Sub-County have nabbed one man linked to at least twelve bales of bhang.
In a statement on the National Police Service’s official X account on Friday, April 10, 2026, the officers announced that the operation had been conducted on Thursday evening.
At the time of the arrest, the officers, acting on a timely public tip-off, successfully intercepted the person of interest, who was transporting the twelve bales.
“Acting on a timely public tip-off, officers from Obunga Police Station in Kisumu Central Sub-County yesterday, 9th April 2026, successfully intercepted and apprehended an individual found transporting suspected narcotics,” NPS stated.
According to the officers, the person of interest was riding a motorcycle when he was stopped by the officers for an inspection.
“The suspect was riding a motorcycle when he was stopped. Upon inspection, officers discovered 12 bales of a green leafy substance, suspected to be cannabis sativa, concealed in yellow polythene bags,” NPS noted.
The Officers revealed that the person of intrest was escorted to Obunga Police Station and placed in custody, pending formal processing and arraignment in court.
On the other hand, the motorcycle and the recovered narcotics have been secured as exhibits.
The National Police Service commends the public for their continued cooperation and urges them to continue supporting security efforts by sharing information on criminal activities.

Kwale crackdown
Meanwhile, the Kisumu crackdown comes after police officers from Diani Police Station have nabbed a man linked to at least 1,858 rolls of bhang in a raid in Mwakipeku Village, Kinondo Ward, in Kwale County.
In a statement by the National Police Service on Thursday, April 2, 2026, the officers described the operations as part of ongoing efforts to safeguard communities from the dangers of substance abuse.
“Police officers in Kwale County have intensified operations targeting the possession and distribution of narcotic drugs as part of ongoing efforts to safeguard communities from the dangers of substance abuse,” NPS said.
“During a recent intelligence-led operation in Msambweni Sub-County, officers from Diani Police Station conducted a raid in Mwakipeku Village, Kinondo Ward, where they recovered 1,858 rolls of cannabis sativa,” NPS added.
