Police in Murang’a nab one person of interest with stolen farm produce
By Ndiritu Wanjiru, April 11, 2026Police officers in Ithanga/Kakuzi Sub-County in Murang’a County have apprehended a person of interest and recovered stolen farm produce during a security operation.
Taking to their X handle on Saturday, April 11, 2026, the National Police Service (NPS) has said that the person of interest was caught on a routine patrol by officers assigned to the Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit (CIPU), which operated in collaboration with the private security officers who were on guard over Del Monte Kenya Limited.
The crew caught the man in field number 12 of the large farm, where he was found with recently picked pineapples that were believed to have been stolen.
“A suspect was arrested, and stolen produce was recovered in Murang’a County. Police officers in Ithanga/Kakuzi Sub-County have arrested a suspect and recovered stolen pineapples during a patrol. The officers, drawn from the CIPU and working in collaboration with private security, intercepted and arrested the suspect within Field 12 at Del Monte Farm,” NPS stated.

The National Police Service has confirmed that police verified the discovery of 103 pineapples during the raid.
The police have since arrested the person of interest, who is now awaiting arraignment in court. The National Police Service, in its statement, confirmed that investigations were already underway.
Police calls for unity in fighting crime
The National Police Service has reiterated its appeal to the public to collaborate in combating crime, particularly in safeguarding vital agricultural infrastructure.
Members of the public have been advised to report suspicious behaviour by calling the toll-free number provided by the service or anonymously using the system of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

“Upon arrest, the suspect was placed in police custody pending arraignment in court.
