Police in Kisii County have launched an investigation into an incident where a man killed a woman and shot himself on Friday night at Credit Bank Building, Glass mart shop near Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH) roundabout.

 County Police Commander, Charles Kasese said Vincent Michieka, 30, is suspected to have shot dead Veronicah Kerubo, 30, on the neck over an unknown reason.

He then shot himself in the head, was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.

 In a report, the commander said officers from Nyanchwa police station rushed to the scene and recovered a Beretta pistol, serial Number PX7788F with 13 rounds of ammunition and two spent cartridges.  “Police have launched a probe to find out whether the gun was licensed and why he killed the woman and took his life” Kases said, adding, the bodies were taken to the hospital to await autopsy.

 The Commander said Safaricom Stage boda boda chairman Denic Ogachi heard the shooting and reported the matter to Nyanchwa police station, prompting officers to visit the scene.

 He appealed to private licensed firearm holders to be careful not to misuse the firearms, saying the government will confiscate them.
