Police honour CPL Nzuve for dedication after tragic death in Haiti
The National Police Service (NPS) of Kenya has paid a heartfelt tribute to Corporal Kennedy Nzuve, who was laid to rest on October 2, 2025, at his home in Kyakatolwe Village, Kalama Sub-County, Machakos County.
Corporal Nzuve lost his life in a tragic accident while serving with the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSSM) in Haiti, marking a sombre moment for the police fraternity and his family.
The NPS confirmed his death earlier this month, following a separate incident that claimed the life of another officer, compounding grief within the service. The funeral ceremony, attended by senior police officials and local dignitaries, featured a flag-draped coffin and an honor guard, symbolising respect for Nzuve’s sacrifice.

Eulogy highlights dedication
During the service, the Director of Operations for the Administration Police Service (APS), Mr. Jackson Kangani, SAIG, represented Inspector General of Police, Mr. Douglas Kanja, and delivered a moving eulogy.
He described Corporal Nzuve as a “diligent and vibrant officer,” deeply committed to his duties, and consistently regarded as a “reliable and dependable officer by his seniors.”
“The Director of Operations for the Administration Police Service (APS), Mr. Jackson Kangani, SAIG, who represented the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Douglas Kanja, eulogised Corporal Nzuve as a diligent and vibrant officer. He described him as being deeply committed to his duties and noted that he was always considered a reliable officer by his seniors,” read the statement.
The tribute highlighted Nzuve’s dedication during his service with the Kenyan-led mission in Haiti, which has been deployed to support efforts against escalating gang violence. His colleagues remembered him as a disciplined officer whose work left a lasting impact on the mission and the police service at large.
Continued commitment amid loss
The NPS has also confirmed the death of another Kenyan officer who went missing earlier this week during a recovery operation along the Carrefour Paye-Savien supply route in Haiti’s Artibonite Department. Reported missing on March 25, 2025, the officer’s body was later recovered, prompting the NPS to extend condolences to his family, friends, and fellow officers.
In a statement released on September 25, 2025, the service expressed sympathy for both families, noting: “May his legacy continue to inspire us all.” Corporal Nzuve’s body, following the accident, was expected to arrive in Nairobi on September 26, 2025, allowing colleagues and loved ones to bid a formal farewell.
Despite these losses, the NPS affirmed its ongoing commitment to the MSSM’s mandate, working closely with Haitian authorities to maintain accountability and security. The service continues to support the families of the fallen officers while ensuring the mission’s objectives are met amid challenging circumstances.
