Police FC coach hints at bolstering squad ahead of daunting continental tasks

Kenya Police coach Etienne Ndayiragije has hinted at bolstering his squad as the new Football Kenya Premier League champions angle for the demands of the impending continental stage for the 2025 season.
Speaking after the team’s coronation on Sunday, June 22, 2025, the tactician spoke of making a few signings to beef up the team’s competitive levels with the continental games in sight.
Kenya Police will represent Kenya in the CAF Champions League games for the next season.
Though the games will be a first appearance for the coach, they mark a rather familiar return to the games for the law enforcers who represented the country in the CAF Confederations Cup after winning the 2024 FKF Shield Cup.

“First, we need to sit down and see if we can strengthen our ranks and uplift our levels as we look to represent the country. The continental games will need us to make a few signings here and there. I believe that the club’s leadership is aware of this, and I’m hopeful we will do something in terms of investment in that regard,” he stated.
Sentiments on Gor mahia
The coach also spoke on the team’s final league tie against Gor Mahia, whom they dethroned to claim their maiden league title in the top flight.
“Gor Mahia is a good team, full of maturity and with some good players within its ranks. We are content with the point we gained in the match,” he opined.
Police FC clinched the league following a 1-0 victory over Shabana in the penultimate round of fixtures at the Gusii Stadium.
The victory saw a potential finale clash against Gor, earlier billed as the title decider, relegated to a mere rubber bullet, with the law enforcers sealing the championship with a game to spare.

Meanwhile, Kakamega Homeboyz striker Moses Shumah clinched the 2024/25 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League Golden Boot award as the season concluded on Sunday, June 22, 2025.
The striker achieved the feat after registering 17 goals in the campaign as Homeboyz ended third in the standings to write his name in the history books of Kenya’s top-flight competition.
His tally saw him pip FC Talanta’s Emmanuel Osoro, who scored 16, and Ryan Ogam of Tusker in a captivating race that was decided on the final rounds of fixtures.
