Police officers from Homa Bay Police Station have arrested two people and seized 300 kilograms of cannabis during an intelligence-led operation near Arujo Bridge. The operation, carried out on Saturday, November 1, 2025, followed credible information received by the National Police Service.

The two were transporting the drug in a Toyota Probox when officers intercepted the vehicle. During a thorough search, the police discovered 2,100 large rolls of cannabis, weighing approximately 300 kilograms, hidden inside six sacks. The seized drugs and the vehicle have been secured at Homa Bay Police Station as evidence.

The two remain in custody at the station, pending further investigations and arraignment in court. The National Police Service emphasised its continued commitment to tackling narcotics and illicit brews across the country.

This recent seizure follows a similar incident in Kajiado County, where police arrested two individuals and recovered 46 rolls of cannabis. That operation took place at Namelok shopping centre on October 26, 2025, after officers acted on a tip-off about a motorcycle used to distribute the drugs. The Kajiado suspects are also in custody, with the exhibits secured at the local police facility.

The National Police Service praised both officers and members of the public for their role in reporting criminal activity. In both cases, intelligence from the public played a key role in the arrests.

Authorities have intensified efforts to curb the distribution and use of illegal substances across Kenya. The operations in Homa Bay and Kajiado highlight the success of intelligence-led policing and community cooperation in tackling drug trafficking.

The police continue to warn that they will take firm action against anyone found in possession of or distributing illegal drugs. They have reassured the public that such operations will continue in other parts of the country to prevent the spread of narcotics.
