Police arrest duo, seize 46 rolls of bhang in Kajiado
Police officers from the Namelok Patrol Base in Kajiado County have arrested two persons of interest and recovered 46 rolls of suspected cannabis sativa.
According to a statement released by the National Police Service (NPS) on Sunday, October 26, 2025, the operation took place at Namelok shopping centre in Kajiado South Sub-County.
The police said the successful operation followed credible intelligence from members of the public regarding a motorcycle being used to distribute the illegal substance.
“Police officers from the Namelok Patrol Base in Kajiado County have arrested two suspects and recovered 46 rolls of suspected cannabis sativa. The operation took place at Namelok shopping centre in Kajiado South Sub-County,” the NPS statement read in part.
Public tip-off leads to arrest
Acting on the tip-off, officers on routine patrol swiftly moved to intercept the motorcycle. “Acting on a tip-off from the public about a motorcycle allegedly being used to distribute the illegal substance, the officers on patrol intercepted the motorcycle and made the recovery,” the statement added.
The persons of interest were apprehended at the scene and taken into custody. Police confirmed that both individuals are currently being held as investigations continue.
“The suspects are currently in custody awaiting arraignment in court, and the exhibits are being held as evidence at the police facility,” the NPS noted.

NPS commends public cooperation
In the statement, the NPS lauded both the officers involved and members of the public for their proactive role in the fight against illegal drugs.
“The National Police Service commends the officers for their commitment and the public for their cooperation in the ongoing fight against illicit drugs,” the post read.
The Service further encouraged continued collaboration between citizens and law enforcement agencies to help curb criminal activities. “We encourage members of the public to continue sharing information on criminal activity through the toll-free hotlines 999, 911, 112,” the NPS urged.
The arrest comes amid heightened efforts by security agencies to combat the distribution and use of illegal substances across Kenya.
Authorities have intensified surveillance in rural and urban areas, emphasising intelligence-led operations and community policing to deter drug trafficking and related crimes.
