A somber atmosphere filled Africa Gospel Church (AGC) Karen as mourners gathered to pay tribute to six victims of the tragic helicopter crash, including Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament (MP) Johana Ng’eno. Among those present was Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris, who reflected on the fragility of leadership and the sudden void left in the wake of the tragedy.

In a statement shared on X on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, Passaris expressed the deep personal and national loss felt during the requiem mass, noting how the incident underscored the unpredictability of life and leadership.

“The day at the Requiem Mass for the six lives lost, including my colleague and friend Johana Ng’eno, was solemn and deeply painful. The loss hit hard because it involved someone I worked closely with and admired,” Passaris said.

She recounted how the parliamentary system immediately reflected the absence of leadership, turning the loss into a stark reminder for lawmakers and citizens alike.

“The loss was made even more real when the Parliament’s Clerk mentioned that in Parliament’s Division List, the seat for Emurua Dikirr now stands vacant. That means that also the Chairperson of a committee I am in, the Committee on Housing, Urban Planning and Public Works, is no more. A stark reminder of how suddenly time may run out,” Passaris added.

Passaris also acknowledged the presence of President William Ruto and the support extended to the grieving families, emphasizing the importance of solidarity in the face of national tragedy.

“I also wish to thank President William Ruto for standing with the families of all those who lost their lives in this fatal crash, and for his presence this coming Friday as we lay our colleague and friend to rest. May their souls rest in eternal peace,” she said.

The MP called on Kenyans to reflect on the contributions of those lost and to honour their legacy through continued dedication to public service.
