Passaris appeals for greater road safety caution amid festive travels
Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has implored Kenyans to maintain vigilance while on the roads during the festive season celebrations.
In a statement on December 25, 2025, Passaris noted with concern the disturbing statistics on cases of flouting traffic regulations among Kenyans, as reported by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).
She reminded road users that observing road regulations will not only protect them but also their immediate neighbours and others around them.
The @ntsa_kenya report on violations involving vehicles is alarming. As we celebrate this festive season, please don’t drink and drive and avoid overspeeding. Remember, road safety protects not only you but also everyone around you. Stay safe and enjoy responsibly!
Her message comes amid mounting cases of road accidents that is compromising the safety of passengers, drivers, pedestrians, and other road users.
NTSA warning
In a statement on Sunday, December 21, 2025, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) raised the alarm over the illegal tampering of vehicle speed limiters. The authority termed the act as reckless and one posing dangers to other road users
“Tampering with speed limiters is illegal. It undermines government and stakeholder efforts to enhance road safety and directly compromises the lives of passengers, pedestrians, drivers, and other road users,” the agency stated.
Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki have similarly urged Kenyans to be alert while on the roads during the festive season.

In his Christmas message to the republic, the fourth president of the republic called on Kenyans to embrace unity, compassion, and responsible travel during the Christmas season, emphasising that no journey is worth losing a life.
Uhuru’s Christmas plea
“As we mark this Christmas season, I extend my sincere wishes of peace, joy, and God’s blessings to you and your families,” Uhuru said.
“As many travel to be with loved ones, I urge all to exercise caution on our roads. Let us be patient, obey traffic rules, and remember that no journey is worth a life. Together, let us commit to arriving safely,” he stated.
