Kapseret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi has shared an encouraging update on the health of Mosop MP Abraham Kirwa, who has been undergoing treatment in Dallas, United States.

In a statement shared via his official X account on Thursday, August 21, 2025, Sudi revealed that he had met with Kirwa in Dallas and expressed his joy at the progress the legislator has made on his road to recovery.

Kirwa’s return

He further pointed out that the sick lawmaker will soon return to the country to serve his constituents.

“It was great meeting Hon. Abraham Kirwa, Mosop MP, in Dallas, USA. I wished him well on his road to recovery, and I’m thrilled to see his significant progress. Soon, he’ll be back home, serving his constituents once again,” Sudi stated.

The news will come as a relief to residents of the Mosop constituency who have been keenly following the MP’s health situation.

Kirwa has been out of the country for specialised medical attention, and his absence has been felt in parliamentary and constituency affairs.

Mosop MP’s sickness

Kirwa nearly lost his life when he suffered a debilitating stroke during a live radio interview on his 54th birthday.

In May 2025, the politician shared his recovery journey to raise awareness of stroke prevention.

Speaking to Fox News, Kirwa narrated that he was in the middle of a radio briefing when suddenly, his vision blurred, one side of his body went numb, and then he struggled to speak. Within moments, he collapsed, prompting an emergency rush to the hospital.

“When I drank the water, I realised I was not even seeing anymore; I collapsed and was rushed to the hospital,” Kirwa narrated.

He spent 18 days in a hospital in Kenya before being transferred to another hospital in Dubai, where doctors discovered that he had suffered from a second stroke.

His family, fearing for his life, made arrangements for him to be transferred to North Texas, where his neurologist enrolled him in the stroke rehab programme.

It is there that he met physical therapist experts who have taken him through an intense programme.
