Orengo asks Ruto to honour Raila by fulfilling ODM-UDA agreement
By Kenneth Mwenda, October 19, 2025Siaya Governor James Orengo has urged President William Ruto to fully implement the 10-point agreement he signed with the late Raila Amolo Odinga earlier this year.
Speaking during Raila’s funeral service at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology, Orengo said the deal between ODM and UDA was key to keeping Raila’s legacy alive.
“President Ruto. I am confident that when you consider the agreement that you have between the party ODM and UDA, that both of you witnessed, that this will be fulfilled, because that will keep the legacy and spirit of Raila burning and burning and burning and burning,” Orengo said.
The Siaya Governor praised Raila as a brave and peace-loving leader who sacrificed his comfort for the sake of Kenya.
“Beyond his courage and bravery, Raila Amolo Odinga was a peacemaker,” Orengo added.
Orengo reminded the president that the MoU between Raila and Ruto was a product of long consultations and represented Raila’s final political vision for the country.
The 10-point agreement
The deal, signed on March 7, 2025, brought ODM into cooperation with the Kenya Kwanza administration.
The 10-point agreement included full implementation of the NADCO report, inclusivity in budget and public appointments, protection of devolution, youth economic empowerment, integrity in leadership, and the right to peaceful assembly. It also called for an audit of the national debt, a stronger fight against corruption, ending wastage of public resources, and upholding constitutionalism, sovereignty of the people, and press freedom.
ODM Deputy Party Leader Godfrey Ososti also echoed the call. He reminded the president that Raila’s wish was to see the ten points implemented by March 2026.
“Baba on March this year, baba Raila Odinga aliweka kidole kwa mkataba. Ten points agenda,” Ososti said.
“Ambayo ni maswala ya wakenya. Mweshimuwa Rais, umesaidia ndugu yako mikubwa. Lakini baba ndakuwa na furaa sana kule mbinguni. Kama iyo ten point agenda itakamilika vile alikuwa anataka. Na baba mwenyewa alikuwa amesema. Tarehe March next year 2026. Yale maswana kumi yawe yametekelezwa. Kwa hivo Rais, I know you have the ability. I know you have the capability. I know you have the power. Please make baba happy in heaven.”
