Legislators have accused Family Bank and National Land Commission (NLC) of colluding with a firm allied to Bishop David Ngari  alias Gakuyo to swindle Kenyans Sh135.5 million that was paid for  a 50-acre piece of land in Murang’a county for the construction of a landfill.

The legislators raised concern that despite Family Bank receiving the money from NLC for the payment of the 50 acres associated with Chosen Builders Investment Limited (CBIL) five years later, the title deed for the said land is yet to be released to the government.

The 50 acres are part of 300 known as Mitubiri/Wempa Block in Murang’a county, which is registered in the name of Chosen Builders Investment Limited whose director is Ngari, and is charged to Family Bank.

At a meeting with  the bank managers and Assets Recovery Agency (ARA), members of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chaired by Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi accused the bank of failing to conduct due diligence on the company yet they were aware that the company is associated with Ngari, who is associated with Ekeza Sacco, that has since collapsed.

The legislators, who included Wandayi, Aden Duale (Garissa Township), Joseph Nduati (Gatanga), Eve Obara (Kasipul Kabondo) sought to know why the bank failed to hand over the titleded of the land yet it was already paid the money for the 50 acres of land.

“ This is a clear scheme that was agreed upon by Family Bank, NLC and Chosen Builders to swindle Kenyans off their money. This project is 80 per cent complete and the title is nowhere to be seen and the money is already with you. What is going on,” said Wandayi

“As  Family Bank, how did you extend this loan facility to this company if you had proper knowledge of the nature of business Chosen Builders is associated with? asked Wandayi.
