Pre-Madaraka Food Security Exhibition

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development will hold a week-long Pre-Madaraka Food Security exhibition in Bungoma County, which will host the Madaraka Day Celebrations.

The exhibition’s first day will feature Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as the Chief Guest. The event, slated to be held at Kibabii University, will also be attended by Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and Micro and Small Enterprises Simon Chelugui, Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture Mithika Linturi, and Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation Alice Wahome.

The theme for Monday will be “Interventions to Enhance Access and Utilization of Agricultural Sector Inputs.”

Sports Ministry to Plant Trees

The Ministry of Youth Affairs, the Creative Economy, and Sports Kenya, led by Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba, will lead Ministry staff, agencies, and the host community in a tree-growing exercise in different parts of the country.

Environment Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya is also expected to join the sports fraternity for this tree-growing exercise at Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani.

The Ministry of Sports is setting up a botanical garden as part of the 15 Billion National Tree Growing Programme.

Harambee Stars session

The Kenya National team, Harambee Stars is set to continue with preparation for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

The sessions are set to continue this week with more players expected to join the camp this week.

Kenya play Burundi on June 7, 2024, before facing the reigning Africa Cup of Nations winners, Ivory Coast, on June 11, 2024.

Ahead of the crucial matches, the team shall tentatively depart for Malawi on June 2, 2024.

Despite being the home team, Harambee Stars shall play both matches at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

This move has been occasioned by the unavailability of the Nyayo National Stadium and the Kasarani Stadium, the only stadiums in Kenya provisionally approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to host international matches.

Both are under renovation ahead of the 2024 African Nations Championships (CHAN) and the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which Kenya shall jointly co-host alongside Tanzania and Uganda.
