National Assembly approves House calendar for 2025

The National Assembly has approved the house calendar for the year 2025 after a contentious debate which threatened to disrupt the naming of the house business committee members.
In a statement on Thursday, February 13, 2025, the National Assembly published the approved calendar of events which was categorized in three parts.
The sessions began on February 11, 2025, and are set to run until Thursday, March 13, March 31, 2025.
Thereafter, the legislators will convene back in the National Assembly from April 1 to May 1, 2025, before going for another recess which will run from May 2 to May, 26, 2025.
Second part
For the second part of the fourth session of the 13th parliament, the parliamentary proceedings will begin on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, and run until July 3, 2025.
During this period, the MPs will briefly break for the annual prayer breakfast meeting which will feature President William Ruto as the chief guest.
In 2002, after the election of a new President and Parliament, the Bunge Fellowship and other small breakfast groups joined forces to organize Kenya’s inaugural National Prayer Breakfast.

Former Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka became the first chairperson of the event, as the then foreign minister, which aimed to bring leaders together under the banner of faith and reconciliation.
Since its inception, the Kenya National Prayer Breakfast has grown in prominence, becoming a platform for fostering unity and reconciliation among leaders from various political and religious backgrounds.
The MPs will again break for a short recess between July 4 and July 21, 2025, before beginning another round of sessions from July 22, 2025 – August 14, 2025. This will be followed by another recess from August 15, 2025, to September 15, 2025.
Third part
In the final part of the National Assembly calendar, the legislators will arrive back at the parliament buildings on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, and conduct sessions which end on Thursdays until October 16, 2025.

Thereafter, they will embark on a short recess beginning on October 17, 2025, to November 3, 2025.
The MPs will again sit for one month between November 4, 2025, and December 4, 2025, before going for their long recess beginning on December 5, 2025, to February 9, 2025, a period which will also feature the EAC inter-parliamentary games.
