Nakuru Senator Tabitha Karanja has come out guns blazing, calling out Governor Susan Kihika for defying a court summons that resulted in her being fined Ksh2 million for illegally dumping toxic waste into Lake Nakuru, saying her time as a leader is up and she must resign.

Speaking from Nakuru on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, the senator did not mince her words, declaring that Kihika has failed in her capacity as governor and vowing to push for a vote of no confidence in the Senate to speed up her removal.

Her Excellency, our governor, Mimi, as your senator elected, I can tell you for free, umeshindwa kutawala hii Nakuru County. Ya muhimu mimi nitapeleka vote of no confidence to the Senate. Ya muhimu ningekuomba uresign honourably, resign. Peana barua ya resignation kwa wale watu walikuchagua.

Crime scene

The senator tore into Kihika over reckless waste disposal that led to her court summons, saying she has turned Nakuru into a crime scene with her actions.

She made it clear that she was fulfilling her oversight role by holding the governor accountable, adding that the Ksh2 million fine was justified because her conduct was beyond comprehension.

Tabitha, who just five days ago faced a heated backlash from Kihika, did not hold back, suggesting that it now appears as if the governor wants to kill everyone in Nakuru, pointing out that the lake where she dumped the sewage is the same place where people fish and children swim

“Nataka kusema as the senator of Nakuru County mandated to do the oversight and representation job, nimeona maneno sasa its going out of hands. Na ya kwanza ni vile tumeona our governor has been jailed for six months ama atoe milioni mbili. Hiyo court ilirule hivyo kwa kuwa our governor alikuwa amepewa a court order kwa sababu alipatikana akimwaga sewage katika Lake Nakuru. Mnajua kumwaga sewage katika lake ni kusema nini. Hata ukigoogle dunia mzima hakuna mahali utapata ati serikali ya county inamwaga sewage katika lake. Hiyo ni kusema, ikiendelea ni kama governor anataka kutuua sisi wote,” she said.

Failed projects

She went on to tear apart Kihika’s track record, accusing her of failing to deliver any meaningful development and citing the War Memorial Hospital as a prime example of her incompetence.

She pointed out that the hospital was supposed to be operational by now, but its opening has been derailed by corruption.

Tabitha revealed that two of the three overseers mandated by the court to oversee the hospital were illegally appointed by Kihika, calling it a blatant abuse of power.

She further accused the governor of hiring doctors through questionable channels, instead of following proper hospital procedures, raising serious concerns over governance and transparency.

“Na hata as we speak hospitali ya War Memorial haijafunguliwa. The court ruled kuchaguliwe watu watano wakuwe board commission. Kwa hiyo, board kulitakikana watu wawili from county government, na hao watu wawili ndio wamekuja kufrustrate kwa kufungua hiyo hospitali. Pia wanataka waajiri madaktari wao wenyewe na wameshindwa kuhire kwa mahospitali. Ile corruption wamefanya kwa mahospitali zao ndio wanataka kuleta kwa War Memorial.

Organ trafficking

In an even more shocking revelation, Tabitha accused Kihika of being involved in organ trafficking, linking her to the mysterious disappearance of a body from War Memorial Hospital.

She suggested that the missing corpse was likely connected to a black market organ trade, warning Nakuru residents to be extremely cautious.

She announced her plans to file a court petition demanding answers, particularly regarding a disabled boy whose body mysteriously vanished after being taken to the county mortuary.

She insisted that the truth must come out.

“Kijana wa walemavu alikufa akapelekwa kwa mortuary. Wazazi kuenda kuchukua mwili wakaambiwa imepotea. County government imekuwa ya kuuza miili ya watu. Kuna black market ya organs so tuchunge sana our county government isikuwe imeingia huko. Nitapeleka hiyo petition kwa sababu we must find that body.”
