A row has erupted over multi-billion shilling properties owned by Muslim groups in Uasin Gishu county.

The dispute is now headed to the courts after the High Court declined a request by the State to postpone a petition filed by one of the groups.

In its petition, North Rift Youth Daawa group through its Secretary General Jamal Diriwo Omar is demanding to have access to all information regarding several parcels of land worth millions of shillings belonging to Muslim Association Committee in Eldoret.

Omar wants the court to order entities namely the Attorney General, National Land Commission and Eldoret Land Registrar to facilitate his group to have access to the properties spread across the county.

This is after Omar’s attempt to access information regarding the ownership of the said property was thwarted by splinter Eldoret Muslim Association despite several requests through court orders.

Omar sued the splinter group two years ago after it denied him access to information pertaining to the ownership of the Muslim association committee in Eldoret.
