Musalia Mudavadi reveals details of phone call with former UK PM David Cameron

Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign & Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi has revealed details of his telephone conversation with Foreign Secretary David Cameron.
The conversation took place following Cameron’s appointment as the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs on November 13, 2023.

In a post on his X account, Mudavadi said he took the opportunity to extend his congratulations to Cameron on his new role and engaged in discussions that spanned global and regional issues.
He said the focal point of their conversation revolved around the importance of peace, both globally and within the region.
“I held a telephone conversation with David Cameron, Foreign Secretary and former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. We exchanged views on global and regional issues. Both of us emphasised the significance of peace and stability in the region,” Mudavadi stated.
According to Mudavadi, Cameron expressed appreciation for the Kenyan Government’s efforts in promoting peace and addressing climate change.

He said the discussion also touched on the developments in the Russia-Ukraine situation, with Cameron providing updates that could impact global commodity supply chains.
“The Foreign Secretary commended the Government of Kenya for its leadership role in the various peace initiatives in the region and matters climate change. He updated me on the developments in the Russia-Ukraine situation which has the potential to ease the pressure on global commodity supply chains. We reaffirmed our commitment to further strengthen our bilateral ties for the mutual benefit of our nations. I congratulated him on his appointment as the new foreign secretary,” he added.
Cameron was previously the UK Prime Minister from May 2010 until July 2016. Cameron led a Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government from 2010 until 2015 and continued as Prime Minister from May 2015 leading a Conservative government. He was the Conservative MP for Witney in West Oxfordshire from 2001 to 2016.
