 Former Kenya Ports Authority player  Enock Mogeni has expressed his delight at joining Egyptian top-tier volleyball league.

 The Egyptian season is set to serve off this weekend and Mogeni is looking forward to making his maiden appearance in the first match for his new club Smouha SC.

 Current Kenya national men’s volleyball team captain is heading into the opening season energised after leading Wafalme Stars to a ninth place finish in this year’s CAVB Africa Men’s Championships in Rwanda in September where he capped it with a historic win over Egypt in the group stage. 

 He says he is ready for the new challenge in Egypt after conducting a successful pre-season training with the team.

 The 24-year-old who has previously played for Södertelge VBK (Sweden), Pentagon VC (USA), and Ndejje VC (Rwanda), confessed that Egyptian players are imposing but  he will be banking on his 198cm frame to shine.

 “There are good players here. Some as tall as 215cm, 213cm and will provide offensive and defensive challenges,” he said

 He said he has already settled well among his team-mates and the environment and atmosphere in Cairo are generally welcoming.

 “My teammates are so friendly and ready to assist. Everything is fine despite the language barrier,” added the Gucha native.

 Kenya International outside hitter Cornelius ‘Nder’ Kiplagat is the other Kenyan volleyball export in Egypt, turning out for the military side El Gaish.
