MCAs decry slow response to queries
Members of the Nyandarua County Assembly have accused the county Executive of laxity in responding to queries raised in the legislators.
A year ago, nominated MCA Joyce Munyua sought information from County Public Service Board regarding the hiring of persons living with disabilities (PWDs).
She expressed her displeasure after MCA Wambugu King’ori, the chair of the Public Service, Administration and Devolution Committee, said he had received only a preliminary report.
King’ori urged the board to share the information, adding that the issue must be taken seriously. “Such delay is tantamount to denying PWDs their rights.”
Meanwhile, MCAs asked Governor Moses Kiarie Badilisha to ensure a County Revenue Board is formed. They gave him a month to do so.
The county has persistently failed to achieve its targets for own-source resources every year, causing the devolved region to rely on equitable share from the national government.
Finance Committee chair Zachary Njeru told MCAs the county had projected to raise Sh985 million but has so far collected only Sh223 million.
