Barrack Eston Mbajah, the younger brother to slain Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Robert Ouko was buried yesterday in an emotional ceremony at his Nyahera village home in Kisumu county.

His burial evoked the painful memories of the gruesome murder of the late Ouko 30 years ago.

Mbajah, 79, died while undergoing treatment at an American hospital last month after suffering a stroke.

Yesterday, his widow Esther Mbajah took issue with the Kanu regime which she blamed for his late husband’s predicament.

Said Esther: “My husband started having problems with his health after leaving the Nyayo House torture chambers. His health was never the same. I don’t know what they did to him”.

“As an honour to him, I would urge the current government to at least pursue this matter so that the murder mystery can be solved once and for all,” she said.

Other leaders who attended the burial ceremony included Kisumu governor Anyang Nyong’o, his Machakos counterpart Alfred Mutua and Kisumu West MP Olago Aluoch.

Said Mutua: “It is sad for someone to be tortured by the same government that should protect him. We call upon the president to revisit this matter and let the law take its course”.

Nyong’o said Mbajah’s death had diminished any hopes of unraveling the killers of the late Ouko who he described as a brilliant leader.
