Matiang’i sends heartfelt message in celebrating Uhuru’s birthday
Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i marked the 64th birthday of former President Uhuru Kenyatta with a poignant X post.
Accompanied by a photo of the two shaking hands at an official event on Sunday, October 26, 2025, Matiang’i wrote, “Happy birthday, Your Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta, CGH. I remain grateful for the opportunity to have served under your leadership and to have contributed to the shared vision of transformation and service delivery to our fellow citizens. Wishing you good health and many happy returns.”
This message, posted just three weeks after Matiang’i joined Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party on October 5, 2025, reflects his appreciation for their collaborative efforts during Kenyatta’s presidency from 2013 to 2022, a period marked by significant national development initiatives. Kenyatta, celebrating his 64th birthday, served as Kenya’s fourth president, a legacy echoed in tributes across the political spectrum.

Birthday tributes
The Office of the Fourth President had earlier extended heartfelt birthday wishes to His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta, praising his journey of service, which has been marked by vision, resilience, and compassion. The statement noted that Kenyatta’s leadership continues to inspire the nation and beyond, and wished him peace, joy, and renewed strength as he continues to champion the values of unity, integrity, and love for the country.
“The Office of the Fourth President extends heartfelt birthday wishes to His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta. Your journey of service, marked by vision, resilience, and compassion, continues to inspire our nation and beyond. May this new chapter bring you peace, joy, and renewed strength to keep championing the values you hold dear; unity, integrity, and love for country. Happy Birthday, Your Excellency!”

Martha Karua, PLP party leader, added to the celebrations with her X post, “Happy birthday Uhuru Kenyatta 4th President of Kenya, wishing you many happy returns.” Her message acknowledges Kenyatta’s historic role, reinforcing the national recognition of his leadership tenure.

This tribute highlights Kenyatta’s enduring influence and the principles that defined his administration.
Matiang’i’s close association with former President Uhuru Kenyatta was highlighted during the Jubilee Party’s Special National Delegates Conference on September 26, 2025, where Kenyatta expressed gratitude to party members and legal teams for restoring the party’s leadership.
While Kenyatta emphasised a democratic future and the collective will of the people, Kitutu Chache South MP Antony Kibagendi clarified that Matiang’i’s exclusion from endorsement as the 2027 presidential candidate was procedural. Despite this, Matiang’i’s commitment to the United Opposition remains firm, underscoring his ongoing collaboration and active role in political strategies alongside Kenyatta.
