Schools resume learning from mid-term break
Several schools are expected to resume learning after going on a mid-term break late last month.
The learners are expected to troop back to their respective schools amid a cash crunch which is currently being experienced in institutions where the state has yet to disburse the required capitation to schools.
During the mid-term break, several schools released learners earlier than usual, with headteachers citing the cash crunch necessitated by the delayed release of capitation in full.

“We have been promised that money would be sent, and we have been waiting. We needed the money to alleviate pressure from head teachers,” the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) chairperson Willie Kuria said.
“The actual amount received per learner is far below the stipulated capitation grant. As of now, schools receive Sh4,181 per student.”
Education CS Julius Ogamba, however, assured that a further Ksh14 billion would be released to schools during the week.
