Here is what you need to know to keep up to speed with today’s happenings.

Govt reshuffle

President William Ruto initiated a government reshuffle at the level of Principal Secretaries (PSs), and this is expected to attract reactions.

In a gazette notice dated March 20, 2025, the president nominated new PSs whose names he has sent to the National Assembly for approval.

According to the notice, the changes have been effected by the president, who also reassigned a number of top government officers.

Jane Imbunya has been nominated as the PS for the State Department for Public Service and Human Capital Development.

Regina Akoth Ombam has been nominated as PS for the State Department for Trade, while Cyrell Odede has been nominated for the State Department for Public Investments and Assets Management.

Caroline Kangu has been nominated for the State Department for East African Community Affairs, while Fredrick Ouma Oluga has been nominated for the State Department for Medical Services.

Ahmed Ibrahim has been nominated for State Department for National Government Co-ordination, whereas Judith Pareno has been nominated for Justice, Human Rights, and Constitutional Affairs.

Boniface Makokha has been nominated for Economic Planning, whereas Stephen Isaboke is President Ruto’s preferred PS for the State Department for Broadcasting and Telecommunications.

Michael Lenasalon and Fikirini Jacobs have been nominated for the State Department for Devolution and the State Department for Youth, respectively. Carren Achieng has been nominated for the State Department for Children Welfare Services.

Susan Nakhumicha, the former Health Cabinet Secretary, made a comeback.

These changes will increase the anticipation of Ruto’s expected changes to his cabinet.

Harambee Stars managed to fight for a comeback after a 3-3 draw against Gambia in a World Cup qualifier on March 20, 2025, in Ivory Coast.
