Malala draws mammoth crowd in inaugural DCP–DAP-K joint rally in Malava
Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) Deputy Party leader Cleophas Malala has drawn a huge crowd in Malava during the inaugural joint rally between his party, DCP, and the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K).

This development came after DCP candidate Edgar Busiega agreed to withdraw from the race and endorse Seth Panyako of DAP-K for the Malava November 37 minipolls on Thursday, October 30, 2025.

After the press conference, which was presided over by Malala in the constituency and saw Busiega withdraw from the race, the team went straight into the villages of the Chegulo area in Butali, where they were welcomed by a huge crowd eager to be addressed by the joint force.
The two leaders both held hands and lifted them up to showcase their joint force.
This comes after days of calls for the DCP party to withdraw their candidate from the race and cede ground to DAP-K in the spirit of a united opposition and zoning.
It is presumed that only the party with regional dominance in an area where a by-election is being held should field a candidate, while other constituent parties within the United Opposition rally behind that party.
This approach was previously applied in Mbeere North, where DCP agreed to withdraw their candidate and support Justin Muturi’s Democratic Party (DP).
Busiega, who had been traversing the constituency with Cleophas Malala in search of support, agreed to unconditionally withdraw and support Seth Panyako after being promised a nomination to Parliament in 2027 by the DCP party.
“Tumekubaliana kwamba katika nomination list ya National Assembly ya chama cha DCP, Edgar Busiega is number one on that list to be nominated as the first of DCP,” Malala stated.
Future plans
Malala, who together with Edgar Busiega had earlier met with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, stated that the entire United Opposition team would soon storm the constituency to officially unveil Seth “Kuka” Panyako as the coalition’s candidate in the Malava by-election.

Battle lines in the Malava by-election have now been drawn, with Seth Panyako set to face his main opponent from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party in the November mini-polls.
