The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala has announced that members of the party will march from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to the Central Business District (CBD) to welcome their party leader.

While addressing the press at the party headquarters on Monday, August 18, 2025, Malala confirmed that the return of their party leader, Rigathi Gachagua, remains scheduled for Thursday, August 21, 2025, at noon from the United States of America.

“Last week we announced that our party leader, Rigathi Gachagua, will be returning to the country on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at noon from the United States of America. His return is still as scheduled” Malala stated

He called upon Kenyans to turn up at JKIA at 8:00 a.m. to receive their beloved party leader, stating that the party will hold a major peaceful march from JKIA to the CBD. He further stressed that they will provide security during the procession and warned against any attempts to disrupt the gathering.

“We call upon Kenyans to show up at JKIA at 8:00 am to receive our beloved party leader. We’ll stage a march from JKIA to the CBD to receive Gachagua and shall have a mother of a peaceful march. We will begin from JKIA to the CBD to provide security, and they should not dare to demonstrate against the people of Kenya,” he added.

Thursday plan

The party has already written to the Inspector General notifying him of the planned activity. Malala confirmed that as a party, and on behalf of the people of Kenya, they will assemble at JKIA starting from 8:00 a.m. to ensure proper organisation.

He also noted that supporters will be traveling from all parts of the country, including Teso land and Luo land, and called for orderly arrangements so that everyone is well-coordinated upon arrival at JKIA by 8:00 a.m.

“We have done a letter to the inspector general notifying him of the said activity. We confirm that as a party and people of Kenya, we will gather at JKIA, starting from 8.00 am. This is to make sure that we plan ourselves adequately. We have people travelling from across the country, all the way from Teso land and Luo land, so we would like to have a good organisation so that everybody can be at JKIA as of 8.00 am.” Malala added,
