Lusaka issues warning to cons lying to public about county jobs
Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has warned residents to be wary of fraudsters who were moving around the county extorting money from members of the public on the pretext of giving them jobs in the county government.
He said he was shocked that people were using his name to solicit money from unsuspecting residents. The governor warned conmen who were collecting money from gullible residents eyeing positions either in his cabinet or as chief officers that they will be arrested.
Addressing mourners during the burial of Peter Wekhomba Mwangale in Matili village, Kimilili constituency, the former Senate Speaker warned the cartels saying it was his prerogative to pick the said officers on merit.
“I don’t need money before employing anyone, those collecting money from unsuspecting members of public, know that your days are numbered,” he warned.
He said he was out to fight corruption in the devolved unit and warned fraudsters that they will face the full force of the law once arrested.
“We have to fight corruption and restore integrity of our county, we can’t allow a few conmen to roam around collecting cash from unsuspecting members of the public,” he said.
The deceased was the brother to Moi era cabinet minister, Elijah Wasike Mwangale.
