Bungoma locals brave the cold as opposition extend their rally into the night
The United Opposition leaders extended a night political rally in Bungoma County, where they rallied supporters behind their agenda for governance reforms and economic transformation ahead of the 2027 general election.
The rally held on Saturday night, June 13, 2026, drew massive crowds in the Nasianda area of Bungoma County as the United Opposition leaders marked day two of their Western Region tour.
The leaders, including the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who addressed hundreds of residents gathered at Nasianda, accused President William Ruto of sabotaging the Nzoia Sugar Company.
Gachagua further declared that efforts to send Ruto must include such impromptu meetings.
“Tumeshinda mchana tukilima yeye, lakini vita ya Kasongo haiwezi isha usiku. Lazima tumpangie,” Gachagua stated.
The former DP further vowed to take a front seat in ensuring Ruto serves only for one term.
“Sisi tuliweka Kenya kwa shimo, na tutachangia kutoa Kenya kwa shimo…,” Gachagua reaffirmed.

Similar sentiments were shared by Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, who welcomed the leaders to address the residents at night.
Gachagua’s remarks came a day after he also accused Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula of protecting their “selfish interests” at the expense of the Luhya community.
At the time, Gachagua accused Mudavadi and Wetangula of failing to demand the revival of Mumias and Nzoia sugar companies and the tarmacking of 1,000 kilometres of road network promised to Western Kenya.

Kakamega Tour
As the opposition leaders pledged to continue engaging wananchi across the country, the Wiper Party Leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, went further to accuse President William Ruto’s allies of attempting to disrupt the United Alternative Government campaign trail in Western Kenya.
Taking to his official X account on Saturday, June 13, 2026, Kalonzo accused an unknown number of individuals of setting up fires on the road to block the Komboa Kenya caravan.
While describing the incident, Kalonzo explained that local women swiftly intervened, removed the obstacles, dispersed the individuals and further ran alongside the vehicles to ensure the team delivered their message uninterrupted.
“We raise our hats to the women and daughters of Harambee, Kakamega this evening. When agents sent by Ruto’s associates put stones and set fires on the road to block the #KomboaKenyaKaravan, it was the women of Harambee who chased those goons away and then ran by our side to make sure we delivered our message,” Kalonzo stated.
