Kalonzo accuses Ruto’s associates of attempting to disrupt Kakamega rally
The Wiper Party Leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, has accused President William Ruto’s allies of attempting to disrupt the United Alternative Government campaign trail in Western Kenya.
Taking to his official X account on Saturday, June 13, 2026, Kalonzo accused an unknown number of individuals of setting up fires on the road to block the Komboa Kenya caravan.
While describing the incident, Kalonzo explained that local women swiftly intervened, removed the obstacles, dispersed the individuals and further ran alongside the vehicles to ensure the team delivered their message uninterrupted.
“We raise our hats to the women and daughters of Harambee, Kakamega this evening. When agents sent by Ruto’s associates put stones and set fires on the road to block the #KomboaKenyaKaravan, it was the women of Harambee who chased those goons away and then ran by our side to make sure we delivered our message,” Kalonzo stated.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua echoed similar sentiments and warned the residents against being used to attack their leaders. Further, Gachagua implored them to send home lawmakers aligned to President William Ruto’s administration.
Kalonzo slams Ruto
His remarks come shortly after he accused President William Ruto of reacting to opposition pressure and following the United Alternative Government campaign trail in Western Kenya.
In a post on his X account on Saturday, June 13, 2026, Kalonzo said Ruto’s visit to Kakamega was not coincidental. He linked it to growing opposition mobilisation under the #KomboaKenyaKaravan.
“Ruto is also in Kakamega today. Let us be honest about why. He is following the United Alternative Government. He is scared, because WANTAM is real,” Kalonzo wrote.
He added that the opposition’s recent “People’s Budget” had disrupted government planning and forced key state institutions into reaction mode.
“The People’s Budget has sent Treasury and State House running helter-skelter — so now he comes to re-launch projects already launched, to make promises he has no intention of keeping,” he said.
Kalonzo also claimed that Kenyans have begun to question the government’s performance three years into office. He said citizens expected delivery but instead face economic pressure and frustration.
“Three years in, what do Kenyans actually have? An angry president. One who issues shoot-to-kill orders against the very people he swore to serve,” he wrote.
